With the new term just around the corner, what is your biggest concern or worry about the weeks ahead?

It might be:

🚌 School or college transport
🏫 Having the right placement in place
🤝 Support being ready from day one
👩‍🏫 New teachers, staff or routines
📋 EHCP provision actually being delivered
💭 Your child or young person coping with the transition back
📞 Communication with school, college or the Local Authority
⏳ Something still unresolved from last term

Worried how child will cope without support and that we will end up in crisis when I have spent all summer getting them ok again.

Can we select all of the above?

I always worry at the beginning of a new term – what will be different? Are the new teachers going to be a good fit? Are the transport arrangements still going to work?

worry of being ready to fight. The summer is always a nice break from it all.

All of them! No school, not one that will deliver the EHCP.

The 6th one… everything else should be in place, both my boys go to great specialist schools, they go up to their new class around June time so they’re already usws to it come

Today’s worry – no comms on transport and I need to meet the escort to brief on seizures and seizure protocol. 

Transition and communication for sure

Placements and Provision – Summed up well by one of our parent carers

“It seems many don’t even have any provision agreed or their regular placement or EOTAS funding not approved so for many they are starting stressed and anxious.”

Transport – poor communication, arrangements not finalised, uncertainty

I would like to know why it needs to be so late. If I could understand the process and reason why I think it would make me feel less cross about why this happens every year.

Worry and Uncertainty – For some parent carers they already feel the stress, uncertainty and worry building up.

I’m already anxious for the daily phone calls about how disregulated and disengaged she’ll be.

we’re heading into Year 11 with a huge amount of uncertainty. There is a lot to sort out alongside planning for Post 16 this term.

SEND Reforms – One parent expressed concern about this

It’s a massive fear that if these reforms are implemented that when he get to Y6 he could be in end up with his EHCP taken away, or an unsuitable setting named in Section I
