Question of the Week 24

We are Devon’s official independent Parent Carer Forum, led by parent carers of children and young people with SEND aged 0–25.

Our role is to:

🔵 Listen to families from communities across Devon and gather their experiences.

🔵 Identify the common issues affecting children, young people and their families.

🔵 Take the collective voice and lived experience of parent carers into strategic meetings with Devon County Council, NHS Devon, education and social care.

🔵 Promote genuine co-production, where families and professionals work together to plan, develop, deliver and review services.

🔵 Challenge services when changes or improvements are needed—and highlight what is working well.

🔵 Look beyond what is reported in meetings and ask whether families are experiencing real improvements in their everyday lives.

We do not usually provide individual advice, advocacy or take on individual cases. Instead, we use what families tell us to identify wider themes and help influence how SEND services across Devon are designed, delivered and improved.
